Queen Victoria is one of the oldest and most well known patterns of the Herend Porcelain Manufactory. This Oriental style pattern is composed of almost one hundred different lively painted butterflies and flower-covered branches. The surface of the glittering snow-white porcelain is covered with a colorful cavalcade of butterflies, flowers and branches framed by the richly colored gilt brim evoking the green fields. This decoration brought the first highly ranking recognition for Herend. Set decorated with this beautiful pattern won the First prize at the 1851 world fair in London. This success however was genuinely crowned by Queen Victoria of England whose name was given to the decoration and who ordered a dinner set with this pattern for her palace.
