BIMStorm OKC Live Session A
##########################################
Welcome to them storm oklahoma .
City.
This is keen on uma will be starting here in a few minutes we have.
Fast turning our mind from a common safe i three months a few words yes hello welcome good morning and welcome to the to the first live sessions we have went to describe for yarn what's going on then what's the proper.
That's going on survey no case ok so what's happening right now the okay thanks what's happening right now we're in the in the College of Architecture University of Oklahoma Norman arm we feel that we've got a to to large classes one on one love construction students in 10 wells.
Senior architectural students that are all arm.
All working some they're working with several.
Arm are industry sponsors from around.
From around this region on they're all here in the in this space I'm in a I'm in a conference room right now arm the student's written a couple different studios.
Say as they work on their projects okay.
Great and we actually have and gender posted.
It's been updated in the last few hours if you go to them storm dot com.
And click anywhere and been strong log on middle the page it'll take you to you list on the left side are you could have been strong dot com slash OKC butts Oklahoma sickly the link on the left side takes you to the oklahoma pages and along the top.
This is the material even poster last few weeks but along the top there's a several new buttons 1 a.m. is agenda and underneath the agenda.
Lists this week's agenda we started on Monday doing prep work before finance.
To oklahoma City yesterday in prepping yesterday and today we're on Wednesday schedule on starting at 10 a.m. Central basically the kickoff have Tammy only in her class online.
Doing an intro and will be starting to show some other results we're seeing some results coming in.
But the intent is coming to an introduction and then we'll continue on this afternoon a live session or gonna have Balfour Beatty construction and others online.
I am showing their work I today's session is more fun interactive live session or we're going to be going through some work looking at some actual projects results in helping teams along happiest first two sessions day basis session a which we're in right now in session.
Be and tomorrow there's going to be ongoing.
Sessions in the morning from 10 a.m. central again.
For one hour I and Thursday and Friday.
The 9 are we're gonna be moving location from.
University Oklahoma to oklahoma City soccer.
Joe hopes to have somebody else some home.
Bring new audio he jumped in a okay when of and a.
Just some logistics your whoever's online and wants to use.
Say anything there's a chat box a GOTO meeting.
Got a weapon our control panel on the right side if you look at your chat box right now just but a high in there to the whole audience you can see I'm sending you a message but you can either send a message through the chat.
Chat box or there's a question and answer I'm box.
Well but for use chat and we won't be able to open up the audio.
For you to speak arm fine and thirdly.
Lenient am here you guys on minor should just keep on going here.
I'm I'm here mom can you hear me yes hi Tammy welcome but hi one-inch.
I'll describe where you are not here with sorry buddy of mine also knows what's going on okay well I am.
And on one and dreams with our industry participants and I'll their getting started kickoff.
We have that Manhattan construction and JE done here right now.
Austin commercial is on the way on.
Their flight didn't get in until at nine so they're on their way on but we're just you're just starting.
To on join in.
Will be in this rain on for the remainder.
The day we I probably cannot on course on right now with my profound because she in the lab ok with the at fifty years sixty students we have down there right now on getting longer and getting started so.
She's I'm sure busy okay great thanks for setting this up IOM.
And whenever you guys are ready to say anything no.
Open to Mikes for you om so maybe.
Financial ratio few glimpses of what we were actually just opening up some projects just this morning from a few minutes ago re seeing some results coming in.
Whitman once you let me help me take the screen for a minute let me just show.
Yeah one of the wanna what looks to be pretty good example or some other thing starting that are starting to come together already from the students okay and maybe that'll give the that'll give others.
My dears okay arm film your mind let me I miss on see do you see him here we go goddess.
Okay summers working on syncing my screams on September using the same login okay.
Go ahead okay got it okay so so this is a.
Um this is a project home I'm a command you remember who who the the person.
Who generated this I think you look at this the courtyard project coral project for me see on second we're just getting the messages.
Here so courtyard project came from.
Amy okay so a medium.
I'll get here it is the same it from a Michelle and I just wanted to.
Just sort of the this is kind of an interesting looking home interesting start what we're seeing I guess is the is the lower floor of this but I just are for grains pulled it out and Google Earth and home here's what it looks like on on all new construction out in Google Earth arm when I start looking at the data in it saddam arts a she s I started looking at parking.
Chacin actually put parking in the system in all and how many starts I guess not.
Bases and those kind of things but you know the the.
Work is starting to generate some usable data it's a 98837 square foot building arm Co on a three-acre site lemme.
Looks like units generating electric you some water in on how much saw what waste is being generated all those kind of things which doing all the kind of things that.
You know we you know that the models do right at the beginning escalated into the system arm but it's you know it's kind of an interesting little arm you /url some.
You know project near the river near the river are.
Should've I guess four interconnected buildings on a courtyard.
Arm I did I did also though among the other things I did missus probably in some ways the most critical piece %uh but from our perspective.
Is Amy's started to make put attachments and.
And Dom you know I was just gonna look at some of these like here's the design development one.
See what we've got going on here so.
Arm this is some I guess it's a summer for.
Early analysis work in the studio.
Or she's looking at some precedents 0 getting the kinda urban design kind of analysis so up other places that have similar things she's looking at some other demographics if she started doing some sketching hand sketching which is cool.
I mean it's looking at some other code requirements so that you know she.
Al's what's a psychometric charts and.
In all kinds of other other things I guess she's.
She looks like she's gone out into sketch Upton.
Problem rather than looking at adjacencies.
Arm one of the cool things would be common.
Maybe maybe home what did she show.
When I headed back to you want to show arm.
Her how to how she would take these adjacencies and at them into the model sure it might be a good girl.
There might be a good play she's it looks like she's done the work.
Now just getting them into a way that film sir Terry's through right actually maybe if you can Yahoo she's got some bubble diagrams.
But if you may be sure we're show them how to.
How to handle that adjacency issue arm.
But she's got you know it's lotto lot of development work already loaded up and which is cool and thats thats.
Just what we're looking for. I think home.
Actually go Soeda freely Amy's project go to the report button fine her is actually a lot of attachment she's.
Attach because attachment by got a detachment.
There's hearts that slope cost estimates and.
Facade color studies so that there's a lot of.
Background material that's been Tasha like there's an uniform and cost estimate I noticed bottom assessment the one scales look at that request Mike on.
Just for her but its online I I use some.
I use numbers max numbers so we may get some squirrely things happening here but.
Yes so so she's she's got a pretty let me know.
Uniform at breakout the see how on the garage in.
And it would be interesting to see how she you whether these square footage numbers came out of the added to your new list system.
Model with it how she actually got to be so.
So Amy if you're listening one of the things we would be looking for is where exactly did all these numbers come from hate I home yes.
I'm sorry I may be able to interject because amy is one of our architecture students who is working with.
Wanted the construction students so her to her.
Team member is Cody wheeler and their.
They've been working on this actually net hardwick Cody is mom task with you mean or at as member on on with any is providing be back in square foot.
Cost and added no hand in hand and red the death of Christ burial.
In again so that the record are coming from.
That's for that coming is coming out a rather I have.
Okay well in and it would be interesting then to see are because now that they've pushed the model back into.
The enormous system it would be interesting to see.
You know whether she whether the system is tracking.
The same numbers if for no other reason than.
You know is the home you know is the data coming from the rabbit model no:.
In a repeatable and verifiable way exactly.
Probably you probably talk to them about that but what are the biggest issue with these data Nick.
Interchanges is making sure that the information is repeatable right and so are no i'm just still ever a little bit on that since.
Now or in in that mode on that is part of the task on deconstruction.
Side with the cost estimating is is verifying and comparing you know.
Doing a analysis is based on it the different.
Data and the data generation arm anything here at so with their homes with the Rev it out in I don't really they had different options.
To run that analysis is on the desktop.
But that may be strictly I object through a simple to well we right in and from our perspective.
You know the whole idea here is to use you use the tools you're comfortable with use the you know use the better ideally use the best tool for the job the the goal here I would just just suggest everybody is that these numbers how where they're coming from it however they've done.
Since they need to be repeatable one of the things that we like to try to do is.
Let's make sure everybody knows where the numbers come from so we have a.
So we have a authority carry source.
For whatever numbers are coming out at the systems and whether it's rather.
Or you now have a server we r it in the way we don't really care where it comes from as long as we clearly know.
You know that it's repeatable throughout the system so so that every 10 things amy in and.
The that her team could do is look at.
Maybe maybe just doing a backcheck.
And documenting worker named where the numbers came from how they.
How they were developed so the even if it were no more than adding a line here that said you know these came from rabbit model version.
18-point to armed with this date on it or.
Or even put a link to the model right there.
Right okay so arm one other comment on the uniform in freely that actually went sure that you can't costs that section interesting somebody actually went through and a more detailed X unit cost analysis on the building assuming that this came from rabbit for example and and there was another.
Program probably use to detailed cost estimates.
Well we're and lecture sure that this afternoon I think wendy profile.
Jumps on mine too the back team on these uniform as well the this level of detail what we're still here is almost like the bottom line.
What's the total cost and work how's it been generated I'll on me attach it back into the model server.
Normally we can bring all these numbers and we don't track individual elements.
So you almost like using multiple tools can get to a at create a directory of where we heading the cost and what or some shims were so even here would be interesting no was generated from another suffer was done by hand with it quantities generate from ravitz account telling the story of what's going on here.
One other thing on the square footage that's important to note is.
As you go through and start using these tools each tool crack calculates areas a little bit differently.
Especially space on classified for example attached to an attributes and you might get them jumping two different air so having.
Multiple angles on this allows you to come to hone in on things that might have been mister opportunism and missed or even errors in their the tools are being used.
So it's kind of a natural process been storm that we actually encourage a canister comparison not necessarily say one is right or wrong which is to say okay.
What are the differences what are we seeing what can't you just.
So this is great and in grand right in 10 the.
Just two elaborate ons at a little bit the one of the good parts is when you do that in particularly when it goes over into the model server now you can have a discussion with an owner or with your team and say oh well we.
We've looked at this now we need to add these the spaces need to be larger these spaces need to be smaller we need to do this without.
And you get really fast feedback against these numbers and so now you're.
You're starting with these numbers whether they're square footages further.
Court gross cost or whatever they are you have the ability to model what ifs.
Very very quickly once these numbers pushed back.
Right and that's the that you know the bottom line on this is is to try to get to that arm thing that people try been working for for with been for a very long time.
We can look at what ifs no in almost in real time.
Right 1x how it's always good to get to the you know to the bottom line real.
You know billable number but you know we all know that things change all the time.
That's that's what we're trying to to.
Expedite right so for example in the air for Mac costing a free notice very high cost for girls who was a foundation or structural system here and scroll up what's your foundation casey Foundation cost is 11 percent special basement walls.
So she's OK 11 percent of the total cost in broad terms is relating to foundations and possibly under.
No basement excavation for example.
If a building had a pre complex I can you're going.
Underground a couple floors of this is gonna push the cost up so you can go back to the planning months ago what happens if we.
Lifted up on flora for free reduce the amount of excavations required by taking the program bringing up.
Step floors is that gonna work might work from a cost estimate funny.
Might not work for me zoning and amassing Maxim member look kinda planning point of view so having is very extreme angles %uh v details uniform it cost estimating running alongside at the same time somebody else analyzing and from.
Planning perspective for example as the type of things that we front quite a bit on previous bans could be an example that African see the logic behind how these numbers were generated.
Alright this is a great it's good to see this level detail actually in.
Maybe there's a lot actually and sensor Amy's has shared this I believe with everybody its practice a pain you can actually click into this project can actually see.
Somebody tell there's a lot when I can go through every single pages lot of.
PDF some powerpoints even link from the bottom there including and P system proposals in Word doc format and.
So sex some pretty good stuff in a scheduled construction schedule some sort.
So what we in with him grand okay let's let's just show a couple others here so so there is some.
Some fault process going into well.
Meep systems some.
I'll but one at that what are the things that we would done you know when you start looking at schedule one other things in.
Again I guess a me when you're as you're going through them policy I'm not gonna I'm not going to open this some I'll MS Project file or chrome is there a file chat with the Grampians.
But what are the things that would be good arm so come on what did she show.
When we give it back to you wanted to show film.
A little bit on how to connect I'll.
Adjacencies and then also show arm show how they can connect time time schedule in here and so that they can start actually doing a very quick got forty.
The so that so that when when the presentation actually comes about that.
She has the ability to to come in actually home you know it's true.
Show this thing actually building in Google Earth right because I.
You know I did you see here hear it here it is in Google Earth but if that had sometimes attached to it.
We would have the time partly people see the same coming up girl.
Great right so I've I think I've given it back to you.
Okay on 2nd on you haven't yeah but wouldn't you watch you few if you can just show that to those two pieces okay and film.
So gotta give them some more things to work on right okay so I can do is I'm gonna look for Amy's project here dismiss search her name of going is lying in the class looks like so we have a Michelle I this project is shared with me as read-only so i cant editor original work which is important I don't wanna mess up your scheme on make.
Duplicative and his mother now sits with sines grand duplicated and put it and to use my training session here and I'll call this one analysis by king.
An actual copy everything it's it's what it's doing its even the attack can see you crater ax ax bring them over to my sin and you some on my side too as a tip can.
And it's going to create your building suspense copying everything over.
And my scheme so that this is an important step because if I start editing things whatever it's not gonna just your scheme any scheme but it's gonna allow me to show you some other things maybe come up with a complete new.
Design propose I might say well from a I saw your uniform at cost system and I think if you adjust this part of the building it's going to help.
Do whatever and thus this part the discussion about cost in engineering the building it obviously has to have other people involved that have that bangor that expert East people to you can give you that type input so I'm on.
Lurked your second floor for some reason this first like and partners and must be lifted above grounder since the first for looks like this very minimal structure touching their the grounds must be in elevated building.
I'm guessing this I.
See turn off the site context it's kinda interesting site I guess this was imported from ravitz and I think a lot of the results we're seeing right now looks like they started in rabbit an actual important no numa.
Which is a is an hour is a good process but it would've been nice to see.
What was the original programming content starting from an Excel spreadsheet with the use in a system where the use an Excel spreadsheet or other tools.
To see what was the original design intent about this pro project if I turned bubble diagrams will actually start to see things like that.
Arm so from bubble diagram I'm just abstract in this now too okay there's a series of spaces.
They're all called runs I don't really know what.
The function that romance and that's one thing that we would recommend is actually if this is is a residential is it commercial as.
On the second floor if I click on this it's just.
The name is from and the numbers 32 IOM.
So one thing I would recommend this action star and classify the space.
In some way and nothing is on my sprite can respond but if you are online you would like to have.
I like your those honors chem randomly start signing remains here scholar sir could be a.
Living room for example for my idea of a space I have no idea because it's not raining here so it's just.
Assume here now one interesting here thing here is that we also have the ability to.
Before you go into the details uniform it cost estimating there's a way to actually start assigning.
Is a so high low or medium cost item.
So if you're designing a hospital for example in operating room would be high and a waiting here might be low for example on this.
You can start assigning numbers to we start generator cost estimating at that level of detail before you get into accounting individual elements let's just leave this plank for now.
On site changes one room to the living room.
Com and I'm not messing up your original schemes don't worry weirdest businesses example arm if I'd.
I jump into this from now let's go inside this living room from 36-33 look like they're near 32.
I'm song assume that something's going on that there's a relationship.
Needs to be between these rooms on the right side.
There's the om space.
Relationship bar here and if I scroll down on in room 32.
And if I wanted to be near room 33 a connection start is this I start check generating those adjacency bubbles.
Sour earlier see start creating those links which is part of the database which starts ending up in reports not kinds of things it's why it's important to somehow.
Think at this in terms of data alongside.
The the geometry that's been generated their om.
So if I go back seeing some reason why.
My screen has let's go back to the floor plan.
So if I go back to the floor plan now I.
Black should be able to see those adjacency lines I am generated from on I'm going way from space level in fact turn on the space relationships now on the right side over here om those adjacency lines start appearing.
Om India the room right there actually for some reason I picked the wrong one epic thirty-somethings a 360 you see the 32 and 33 adjacency I am in clone turn it back into bubbles so it'll be.
Right so pick up the Lord Mayor traditional.
Yeah bubble diagram you and if I turn off for slap their ago okay.
I am so there's the adjacency I picked the wrong number sits at 34 but for example if 34 really needed to be near 30.
To then at the bubble diagram level I can start doing this rights are just change the design comments may be supposed to go over here seeking really start using these bubbles to start generating what's a relationship with the spaces the other thing that's missing I think in all the site which is just you know that's kinda what we've done for.
For generations scan on paper but it it now else.
Embedded in the model exactly a and its embedded in reports it's it's tracking so imagine that this is the client requirement model the clients as I want from 34 need.
Needs to be renting a room 32 arm.
The concert honoring spoke with other thing that we've seen we've got we've seen three or four schemes coming in so far and I think.
And all them its kind in the same situation we're not seeing attributes attach two spaces so the naming and numbering a friend is important because only we know what the functions from the other in the you can do is you can also open up individual spaces like this and say give them an attribute for example by department as a common space.
These are the generic attributes to have been the final show you how to find the next but if you start doing this.
Then you start have the ability to color code and and make those part the report as well too.
Writing you can select more safe you've got arm.
20 technical space issue could slip malt balls.
And do them all at once exactly I can do this since shift so I can do that.
So it would be good even even though they weren't originally set up like this to actually to classify space because the sands up in the report ends up the cost estimates and up in a lot of things.
Arm let you start analyzing things like okie.
With my percentage is classified %uh technical spaces or what's my by what's my percentage old-style living unit housing units compared to arm retail and act like that exactly a.
Arm yen como before you leave this because this 4 seems to have very few spaces on it can we just chat.
The arm the settings related to call the estimate.
To the square footage just that calculation case officials to make sure that.
The name he's got that turned on the right she could begin its really funny.
Numbers and her system-level estimating here.
Yes if I got a record low back in report.
Let's go to the building for just look at that first and see what's going on.
There's not many spaces Islas I'll love.
On on to find space in this project right.
So where and this for some reason it even to.
To building on others there's two classifications as one building were showing 98,000 square foot net.
Which are all the spaces and 90,000 square-foot growth well it looks like she may have a set right you know which she if she's.
It looks like shit they said it might slap right but that's why I was saying what you go to it and just.
Just show everybody what we're talking about right sold into the report go to go to the settings.
Well everybody let's look at this first this.
Second floor we were just on the classified the space department 6.
Now it's starting to show us a cross-section the building Sastry lower interest rate low latency very much.
Going on it looks like this building if that sways designers design that the second floor has the first floor.
Street-level floors pretty much empty just minor.
Elements touching result some kinda cardinal sin of this was the intent or not.
But this shows you level by level and watches are classifying spacing start generating these kinda automatic reports like right in if in if.
If there were if the space were classified by departments in use and arm or argued all kinds a different anything that it was on classified by you would have an additional pie chart right an additional simple cross-section there's a second posture.
Called space utilization snot class Pfizer's empty per ok so let's go you wanna go into the settings I actually set these departments.
Just you're just certain or just show the settings arm in at the there you go you're so are then go to the area's you in the right here.
Ok Journal Sentinel settings customs actually.
Corn are building settings wild show that let's just let's go in separate times 01 for stepped allotments.
Department sees what the generic department set up by the system so if you're working on a residential.
Unit I am I would say there's probably things like.
Retail let's be very rough could be as granular you are going to call it.
Retail office.
Presidential are actually might even be.
The key to be residential or star class final this is live the living room this is a bedroom you can even do that as well too not gonna resolve this year.
In a few minutes by Sasha conceptually.
Service area things like that so could either be groupings of things he could even say this is a one bedroom unit.
It really depends on what you're trying to reports if you try to calculate.
I meet all square feet of one-bedroom units do we have verses.
I miss looking to have and you can have two different classification system kinda mixing up.
Things here but let's just leave this for now like that and you you get the idea.
Sinus save that's on now what's gonna happen is that the color bubbles that we showed earlier and you could change the stick celery longer terms to be orange in.
And bedrooms to be purple cetera an East.
Green and missus changed colors orbits get some.
Variation here and keep on adding more than 10 San department store and save that then there's.
I think right now you got what thirty five Oakley the standard I think without fear 35 different Department.
Then there's also custom says you can actually start adding all kinds buy this ticket sale on it.
Color-coded by for fashion things like that but we're so that these are all the additional space attributes let's just keep it at that for now okay so now if we refresh the screen actually start showing up there showed there it is right there was actually showing on space attributes so fickle Department settings now it'll show up the news.
Attribute settings that we had just set up and we can start class find space based on that on so there we go departments there you go right there and you can also start.
Firms can be very random here but can start looking at that and class fine here but Department.
Residential for example I am okay so.
On the cost calculation if we to this you'll start seeing an awesome the Costco questions its for now okay so that's idea one at a time the other way to do this is to actually arm export.
So you'd say a export an excel file.
May go into detail Fine's I think this kind of importance at least get some data these models because the.
Because his top model started in reverent you could actually do this now have it as well too but if we have this started as a program requirement for on texts how typically project starts owners as well here's Word document describing the kinda building or here's an excel file that lists we want to honor.
Unit condominium rival this also relates to the to the construction students arm owners are starting to ask for Kobe at the end up.
In the construction projects and and a lot of times it's you know that there's not really enough time or energy your money to you.
Do this stuff rather you gonna line by line basis so this is also a way to.
Inject the the Kobe data into a model.
Arm %um do these kinda classifications very quickly what you're showing now is one at the 10 the workflows for.
Contractors who were you're trying to get that operations and maintenance data.
Pushed over so another can use it in the facility management systems.
Exactly a so this is the excel file from the building so for example from a Kobe perspective if the rooms did not have to come up before you go there though on.
Just I don't know anybody seen this before so you really need to tell him what the Excel okay relates to its more its I mean specifically every space within that building right so when he had export its taking every space and exporting and putting it on your desk tops on your desktop now it's created an excel file with all the spaces the space name florets on the number the space and a lot of other attributes the area the size the space om here for fashion had all those these.
Air balance all that stuff is all set see right now there's no data and their.
We're just gonna focus on one right so so what rights 01 workflow here were a new years actually had some input related to in BP systems would actually be to come back in you can fill in you know basically the coding for the MEPC system.
Are in one of these part where these columns rain right exactly that you would actually if you objected this back n you would actually have the IMI p coding back into the market exact by injecting it from the stoop respect.
Right exactly I'm just color coding this it can see what I'm gonna be a turning.
Your next I'm gonna I'm gonna be random but the the coating that we had your retail office residential is.
Code is 1234 56 of Akron OH one and all change into retail to the office three would be residential so the departmental color coding.
Not just do this some Miranda because I don't know what the space are but if I knew for example the spaces for retail.
Then I could sort the the excel file by retail.
And put the retail number being is one psych make these both ones and these would be to use for example on.
Sons gonna take this just randomly.
Paste this in here seeking to censor what's going on as far as if you if you put this number send these numbers and then they're gonna start showing up at all.
Reports okay so first on the desktop in Excel here we haven't edited anything in the actual model.
And if I want to start editing then I and go back and and I could even rename them here for wanna say just like we did hear.
I say this is a one-bedroom unit could do that as well too and most are showing up an in the models well.
In you know one thing apps posture you have number of people in number parkings you spark you can make miniature yeah we have number of people in parking spaces this is actually really good place to actually start looking at.
You know what is the gross occupancy in this project by selling in the.
The areas that have come out has highlighted right there which is the yeah which is the people occupancies right so if you just put.
To if you just copied to all the way down there come on will certainly have a building that you know it'll ruin role that up.
In the model right and so you can see right out into Google Earth we see all the stuff out and a coke works for.
Right so this is a at a very rapid way cuz lot of people know how to use Excel you can actually hang excel file somebody else 90 min say start adding other the i/o them essentially.
Information them into the model and very rapid way.
And you can edit its okay so we're gonna save this building 2xl here.
And I'm gonna go back to our project and the next and is an intensive exporting.
On the lower right hand import and the.
Option is to import an update space schedules rare important updates pastes.
Space attributes and sorry more important things base actress as a description to the touch which leases price tag on grab that important app update space attributes says choose the file that you want.
On seeing.
Its building to there is I just changed a few minutes ago seconds ago.
It could even change the size the space so an excel file you could say well I don't really want thousand-square-foot from 1200 you could say we'll update the size as well so in the early stages.
Are you are you or you could say its 25 by forty now and you could say it's 25 by thirty right so on the bubble diagramming phase it actually doesn't matter.
You know geometry or so i cant the bubble diagram.
Even now or are working kinda backwards because we want to get this data to be able to generate reports be able to do the cost estimates to be.
Color-coded by department to show that process that we're meeting the owner requirements of the owner said we 100% better condominium hear it then we're actually seeing the result of that.
On in in the mall okay so it's let's go back to that department view here.
Worst on the second level so now all of a sudden.
All over space is actually have a color cut their random because I wasn't care for all but if I go into my 3d view now it's actually gonna start generating Cummings square feet of office do we have.
And color code all the spaces that are offices so Amy's model it started off with no attributes Nelson within a few minutes randomly a.
Place the colors in here when you click on a space now are you showing the second level right this is just the second level so if I go and.
Turns actually.
I don't know what's going on keeps coming in on me a new mouse and just.
Likes to zoom in and figure Cisco all floors.
Their ego so they're all the floors.
If I turn off slaps you like to see it starts in the spaces they're all the spaces haven't changed anything geometry the moms adding attributes if I click on this space right here it says it's haven't changed their names but it's it's giving me the attribute about that room based on that and see it knows it's got two people in a yeah sofa go to the Etsy attribute group now.
And let's cover.
Department color coding report gonna give us a slice the per floor what's on each floor on and if I click on departments now senate start sorting by departments I could say or how many square feet of retail do I have 30,000 square feet of retail based on the.
Classification.
Companies square feet of office I'm its all the stuff that's not fun to do.
The design process not exactly probably why it's not in the mall because typically in the design process becomes too cumbersome to deal with Alastair.
But the state actually informs you on how you're doing on your design work and actually allows you to communicate owner and say we're our meeting your original requirements and what your goals for us for our side use.
Right and when we when you get out when everybody gets another school and you start.
Having to deliver these things to owners who are paying you to do these projects those are the have always been you know they've they've been the two stakes for architects who have or you know you have you're handing them of the some work for someone who's.
Whose job is to go through and find all the stuff out at the model what year you.
You you just kind of automated make it not a big deal right so your your in that an actual project spending a majority of the time dealing with all these numbers in square footage in cost and.
We have the right adjacencies not on the design itself so our goal with this pen storm process to show that if you collaborate with others I can send this model of somebody else than say.
To back for example to give us a your formidable cost estimate of this.
By taking into their system internet cost.
I so here's the capacity num defaulted to call it too but showing us there's two people and.
To the spaces you see the namespaces a lot about the kind the reports.
That are automatically generated now because we have this level bomb and we have that detailed cost estimate word leaving in a default value but you notice a class fight one on the space the high cost item solace and its putting in line dancing Spain than 31,000 on this on space I haven't done the rest a bit salty faulting at average that much the rest the building said average but because I class fights 1 so you're coming to you $38 million dollars.
Cost based on the default values are coming system.
So the right at night and there were if you if you look at the uniform at the.
Amy had in here that was coming out at the rather model you notice that there are the percentages for fees and contingencies.
Stuff we're different one other things it needs to happen if you if you want to use these as car comparisons.
Issue really have to Cullinane adjust that the fall.
So that they match in both places right you an estimate can be really pots or off if you got a construction contingency of 5 percent one place 15 percent the other place.
Right and then the last 11 P let's actually look.
At YUM the building report which we opened up early on remember the first there was one first reports you open up now at the difference here is that because we classified space.
This pie chart now is getting updated automatically floor by floor.
And showing us that we have 17,000 square-foot every toner fifth floor is that a good idea or not probably not replying on retail down below.
Level 2 there's bedrooms whatever I was very random in the way a class fighter with a sec.
Escape across sections to the building by use and a pie chart by you space to classifications that we randomly assigned including that there's a whole section called non because it was in class 5a 9.3 percent bonus not classified by use so from an owner's perspective I wear to analyze.
Om the scheme that aims minutes here I probably would even be doing some like this if I was reprimand.
The owner and out gotta project in from rabbit I would decompose it but the ideal scenario would be.
If the owner sets the requirements even an excel file hands at to.
The design team design team then takes off in the process that we showed here.
And were able to do a commute communicate with the owner at the same level.
What you're getting everything asses for recommending going from a four-story five-story building it still works in an envelope.
The planning form-based codes that are being used the city for example on a.
Fits with them the views and now from a.
Real estate perspective than the real from.
The business siddig sale we have this mean square feet one-bedroom units.
Yes if we build a sand 2000 15 factors details last point here when is this building gonna be constructed.
We're gonna put a date to it om it's kinda funny for from because this first floor here I would recommend actually I don't know what what the design in 10 was here but there might be some actual some errors going on on the.
Looks like to me actors I know that sometimes curves and things from revenue other models they get interpreted.
Only unimportant yeah lou yeah can hear me.
Now I do you washy there for a minute you you did up it looks like.
Looks like summer the maybe from the rabbit import some the curves got misinterpreted we know I know that we there's problems typically between them porn expert in different application sometimes curve so maybe that's what's happening here I'm not sure but for example if I could say well that's not really the first floor the first for this is street-level and if that's really intent maybe.
You really want to the second floor as a footprint the buildings and okay come on 11 go back to that now hello everybody watcher.
What you're looking at right there so they can okay this is Ashley everybody understands that this is a floor settings see the floor to floor Heights the sexual came in from reverend and you're saying which is the ground floor if you select this turns that to the ground floor the the radio button here so if I say well I really want the second for to be the ground or the street level to be the car the street level to be a ground for.
I'm in a mood second orders from Nancy can see the difference happens.
That actually resets the building to use.
This the second level to be the ground floor I.
So okay so let's see what happens here.
I am and that set the dates now I was last thing.
Wants to you was anything else fire that apart setting a date so now I.
Ike I set the second level so now at the site on the web to sing the second level as kinda footprint the building which actually looks more representation of what it should look like maybe a master planning.
You really can decide yeah which one unless she.
And loss you know the ideas that somebody spaces for bridging over exactly a.
Ridge above so I'm just being random here just making assumptions but.
Just to show the point that you can actually push any foreign to the master planning.
You up the model that you're looking at I'm.
Down here okay so the last thing we can do is gone.
Double click on the building I am.
I would even give it a a real name here looks like this is default in the building to looks like it's called the Amy.
Yeah I'll give and give it a building number if you want to and we're going to give it a day so the from there real estate and business perspective we decided this building make sense to build but we're gonna projected out that it's going to come in at.
Start construction 2013 November you can give a specific date november twelfth skin-tight is an American poet to counter and say constructions going take from 13 to 14 December 4 2014 your.
Project an opening right for Christmas save that.
And now if you look at this and in 3d.
And in the reports it actually start showing up when the constructions gonna start om see treatin.
For some reason to register here which is exported to Google its partner okay so let's go export work doing Google Earth once considered exporting to Excel gonna go ahead export expert to Google Earth export building a volume time-based code.
And is actually include forty forty is tightly could do you could do departments have to attack.
We changed added this this is a new features from a few days ago so include forty actually puts at forty time line.
Include a clock and people who explode the view so we can actually see other forces set up and will include a white background see what that means I export the sound it saves this building it creates a Google Earth file and saves on my desktop or in my downloads folder.
And then when you launch new Google Earth and it will actually show the result in Google Earth okay so Amy's design now that's been worked on and analyzed it's gonna open up and Google Earth your.
Yes this is you know on him hoping that at all works and everything.
Pops up here because this is a really good way.
To do a very quick for tbe arm representation really very quickly shows an owner what you're trying to achieve okay so there we go starters it's not as fine grain Asian get to with now this and stuff but it actually.
It actually does are kinda arm spreads things across a construction period you select and as it becomes pretty pretty good quick representation no it would look more like a regular building if.
Command has exploded the floors that could turn that off I was just to show what was going on here so case let's look at what was exported here there's 2x to exports there's a time line as you click the time line actually shows you 2014 the construction sequence these are they exploded floors up about sickness you see space that actually have attributes associated with them on quicken SpaceX has a two people that we assign a member.
Section there color-coded by department on the left side you can actually decide X turn off exploded view and just turn on the.
Yeah mangia como 901 one Nam there is.
A what's the no at least one of the Interior Design faculty is in the room and I'll is she cried the interested no see that you can actually from you can actually the added furniture and you can actually be true tracking furniture out at this point here right on you had an affair time do that but yeah we probably going to this point I am yup there's the way to adventures we kept the current master final there was one last thing sure what was for got now.
I'm after this afternoon there's one more thing show here i think thats own list psalm yeah I think that's.
Tammy are you there.
Home no if.
If Tammy now what's come on in so to wrap it up.
Farm we could do that early if she's available but film well I could show want one thing before we leave K I.
Want one more thing time let me show one more thing here garth I we actually took the I'll actually turn on all the that this is a network link pulling in this the other students work that's coming in from its been posted already.
So in addition to the building or just looking at from Amy over here in the corner.
This is the other part the city is being planned its network links going grabbing that but I wanted to show.
One thing here.
Hours here's.
Yeah about this afternoon will show more the projects but we noticed there's a couple more projects coming in including this one from Ryan.
I Ryan submitted a project he also posted.
Images on services and the analysis me to kiss looks like a turkey.
He took the revenue model that he's been working on I believe even the revenue models posted these are some of his images that were just coming and just recently sourcing some pretty nice results.
Going to the detailed design and the comments on Ryan's projects are more so much what we just showed Amy's.
The six great as a final kinda result but it would be nice to see.
To decompose and see what's really going on in to be able to the Nelson the model from owners or other perspective cost estimating perspectives om I get oh that was the thing I wanted to show the.
Uniform at in the in the settings we show the rough level costas member you can actually go to the building settings and the uniform at cost that Amy showed us.
You can actually create the same thing manually even here yet so I wanted.
Have substructure and this in put the numbers in manually here that's one way of doing it this afternoon I believe back is gonna be all mine will show how they use their tool for uniform in Kosice minute can then be sucked into here.
So the resulting data and the uniform into Amy had an excel file.
Could be brought an and populate for belong.
Full-blown uniform and Tom I am back to go and a sample one here there's a sample.
Setting here they can actually show om what it would look like if we have the full uniform at data in here in the model Asaka a starter in a format population here.
Okay so Tammy your own yes sorry about that married segment ago I we're working here in the rain with and Jade and Austin and commercial Manhattan construction and then I had mentioned the Interior Design faculty.
Was with over is in the ring with this and.
So I was muted apologies for the delay.
But now we're excited everyone's ready to get started.
Going continue going on project the polly here a lot to at background conversations going on good I am.
Yes and so I just want to thank you for the kickoff here I M.
And I will talk again deception if they take threat to me before you get off though um I think Mon put out a lotta love I mean I think it's it should be pretty clear some other issues about.
You're getting data into the model so they can actually be analyzed and evaluated mall that do anything.
The in think I love the anything else that.
Anybody's expressed interest and her can think up that are to be tapped beyond what Commons already here that enough game started no I yeah I think so and i think that.
You know %ah we'll look at some some more.
Projects this afternoon where I know the.
And the data is being uploaded things like that I'm we do have you know a couple on teams that are really interested and he demo perspective in some those cost.
Things so they're looking at it from that approach as well as the construction French Sowell had some.
I meant risking alternates great okay good.
Actually a honest since we have Jade and Manhattan.
Austin participating or really be interesting is to see from their perspective what what's what are some the drivers like cost her construct.
Constructability costas cost related issues marketing perspective what what's the market really happening was projected to happen in oklahoma if this quarter short gets built up I.
How much how many units can be absorbed in the market for example just making stuff up here but if we know.
Some %uh those metrics and we can attach them to the models I could say here are some Shinzo we can absorb.
Thousand units housing for the next three years I am and here's how much the market value would be if that are the rental cost or whatever that type of analysis even if it's in there other programs or even if its.
Sketched on a napkin kinda getting those assumptions attached to the model I and being able to communicate that with the team to be really interesting.
I'll and it would be great if you can see some that this afternoon even if its in a napkin sketch like I said but im I'm.
Right in 10 just following up on that if if the if the team's have issues like months talking about and.
Wanna talk about I'm creating custom attributes to be able to to do the kinda stuff phones talking about we can.
We can look at we can also many sessions just about doing that while you know what we're setting here right.
I mean these it's a it's relatively easy to create what actually is pretty easy to create.
Custom attributes that would say you know the space is the the you need to be one level love.
Construction or types or whatever week what we can do that we can show.
Up I'll be around and can show people how they how they can do that if they're interested okay well hurry you know what rumor and sell will be. maybe continue working on that actually guy a couple hours great thanks a lot thank you everybody.
Yes taker thanks como back on a couple hours at a 45 thanks by great okay thanks by.
