Ok so i was a senior in college at Arizona State University and i was working at a bar that was in town and Chris was on his way to Alaska and his camper van and he actually ran out of money and so he stopped in Arizona and got a job at the bar that I was working at so that's how we originally met and he was only going to stay for a short period of time I don't know how much money he thought he was gonna make in a month but he ended up staying for about eight months and then he was like you should just come travel with me blah blah and I was like I'm not really sure you live in a van that's kind of weird I didn't really know a whole lot about it but I was like okay well I'm going to graduate first and then all travel with you for three weeks to Alaska and then just kind of like test it out and then I'll come back so button happening was I drove with him in the van to Alaska and I was planning on only being there for three weeks but then I ended up loving Alaska and we got there I got a job there and just been traveling ever since so that's pretty much the short version that is a short version and i will book bookmark this part of it you always make it sound like like I was like trying to convince you the whole time like it's what it was one conversation right but anyways we're gonna start from the beginning for me like when when when I left Indiana I I got zapped the camera and still up in Alaska right now so trying to figure out what to do with that guy but I left from Indiana to Arizona and the van kept breaking down my replaced a bunch of parts at the time I didn't have that much money at all my credit card didn't have that much room on it so by the time I left in the end I was going to try to get the southern california and get a job there by the time I got to that spot i was already completely and utterly out of money so it's gonna get a job and his g mention I was only going to be there for a month went out with some friends that lived in the tempe area which is where ASU is we went out one night I just started asking people in the industry which is a great way to get a job in the industry just start asking around people that are already working they know who's hiring he's not hiring one of our beautiful friends Amanda mentioned that I should come back the next day and ask for rich that's what i did i got a job that day and i started working that evening and it's just I was getting incredibly lucky i kept getting promoted within the bar where when i first started i was making like 50 bucks a night of security and by time i left canteen I was bartending barbacking kept getting promoted just lucky things kept happening i was making over a thousand dollars cash a week and that is the most money ever made so let's just say the van was completely good to go by the time I left and I had more enough money to make it up to Alaska and then of course this bookmarks part where g makes you sound like I was like to pick up or to come there was one conversation in particular and you tell me if I'm wrong but it often happened so we went out to our favorite place in phoenix area called postie knows if you get a chance definitely check it out so we're sitting there and I and we we actually we drove the van Gogh suppose Dino's and walk down to post he knows he can dock that night because they have a wine and food board for like twenty bucks so we drink a lot of wine and a lot of food I don't want to drive so we just camped next to park down the road and yeah but uh so there are three ladies next to us and I was just like so if you're you're more than welcome to come if you want to come to Alaska you can talk to the ladies to meet ya 2 2g as i get if you want to come travel with me you're more than welcome to it's a great opportunity and she's like I don't know we'll see i was like okay fine so I'm a big believer in you never tell somebody your point you never try and argue it you give them an example so literally I just I turned over to there's three ladies are too late i can remember next to us and I was like if you get it was it is too you as i get if you just graduated college and you decide in some guy offered you travel United States an advantage you do it like they're like oh absolutely i do it in a heartbeat are you thinking about doing that like they look to do you think about doing that is that what's happening to you tune she's like yeah and they're like oh you have to do it take the opportunity so the quickest happen i don't have that i was i was telling you everything oh we the thing happened Alaska is she got really bummed she said she didn't want to leave so I was like okay so just go apply certain spots if you get hard you say if you don't get higher than you leave like I'll see you later we'll see what happens after see ya later yeah mention of getting hired the first spot within 15 minutes started showing you around the room that the spot and what you've been doing which that worked out really well and then we stopped doing the full-time van thing the next season because Alaska and in Alaska because i was working a job where I was working 16 through 20 hour days and she was also working a lot and it makes sense for us to try and live in this man without full water and full hookups so we rented a place and ended up costing us what was it seven eight thousand for that summer total hot like that's that utilities internet ripped this place and that doesn't include food doesn't include you that but that was just like living with seven eight thousand dollars i can't remember what it was it was at seven thousand and thousand i'm not total and we were there fine but we stayed in to the winner you can see it's we stayed at Marcie's own we're still paying rent that's share so maybe like six thousand ich6 anyways it was basically a lot of money that went to absolutely nothing and I had been having my eye on a class a motorhome or class sees actually thought first because they had arbys up there you could buy they have a big rental company up there yeah and that was the plan was to do the the classy and then we found the class a and since then we've been full-time in the class a.
Yep that's how the transition to the RV occurred right this.
Just like maybe we should get an IV and I was like okay I i just i'm not a big fan of pain rent i don't i don't have a great day and rent but that's how we ended up living in the Army a couple wedding in the RV travel around i mean those that are watching the video version of this which is posted on our channel christian g travels on youtube you can see the RB and see the spot where park that we do a lot of boondock in a lot of free camping which is great it saves a lot of money but there's highs and lows along with the relationship side of it as well so put you on the spot because we didn't we didn't practice this we have no idea we're going to talk about hi what's it what's it like living in an RV with the boy.
Well that's like a really bra like really know how to break that down necessarily i clean a lot he's pretty messy it could be worse for sure but like he's like a little bit messy how am I messy.
What do you mean more knocking what's up i really wanted a great example on the way out here just approximately 10 minutes ago you were eating chips and salsa and you empty the container of salsa and just like sitting why the counter it was it wasn't sausage could put it if it was you could put it in the trash can like don't just leave the empty container sitting on the counter like these are normal relationship blows but we live in like this tiny little rectangle and so like when you're messy and you leave things it's just your home is cluttered when the kitchen has trashed on the counter and that makes that was understand as i leave it out so she can have some ya know he said that every time and after yeah he even asked me do you want that and i think--not and then he leaves it out that's how you might want them no I don't want so messy a little bit messy I feel like I've made strides I feel like nose in the laundry Nancy drag you've made strides you just asked me yeah so what else messy only good or bad or both would agree i'm well I always feel protected.
That's nice gotta keep an eye out like what else.
And this is a really general question well if its general should be easy to answer right no harder alright so what y'all ask you yeah that's what it's going to say like what will go back and pray tell what's it like living in an RV with doing the negative first we gotta organize this what are the negatives of living in an RV with a girl.
There's a lot of flu flu well we grow room flow flow we have the full i guess so i don't know how to say it but it's everywhere in the RV that's it that's it that's a good way to put it.
Why like why like all the all the signs and banners you mean my inspirational quote right right.
It's not home decor to create our shui that is something a guy typically does not do in an RV and it is it's not so much negative it's just it's just there like it's it's one of those things that if I were like whenever you go back home to visit family and what happens in this relationship is G is more more into hanging out family with me when im back home everybody knows I'm back home for a certain amount of time if you want to come hang out we hang out and that's it basically Chris could be a hermit and I'm the opposite of that and I need to be around people and friends and family and reliving it all in the middle of nowhere so it's very important for me personally that I balance that out because i am like a huge people person for it for me I like being around the people that I want to be around if I'm not around people i don't necessarily always want to be around that I'm not I'm not sad about it but the people i do want to be around.
No I I care but the people i do want to be around I make sure I I spend every second hanging out and like being with them and like enjoying the time bit I don't feel like I have to do that all the time but what I'm getting at is whenever she goes back home to visit family or whatever i will be in the RV just hanging out getting my work done doing whatever and I'll it'll be a little messy because she says I leave stuff out and i'll just be like sitting there resting from work on the computer i'll be looking around at all the signs and she's not there it's like huh how all this get in here but so yeah that's it's not necessarily negative thats on my notice.
Interesting that makes them right your turn not answer to you answer to give me another negative 1.
Uh living with the female in RV well I I feel like we at this point we shouldn't try and generalize male and female but like for for you as a girl in your traits as a female I mean yeah I i would say the the the thinking with the heart rather than the mind when it comes to decisions on what we do like just now we're talking about where we're going to explore and utah and you want to go see see a spot its way out a way to to visit friends because it's like part part of like you're emotionally you want to be around friends where I'm logically thinking well if we go over there that's an extra 300 miles for our journey I don't know if that works.
Interesting so that's something I think it's not a positive or negative and sister thing it's just for every alleyway should enable label any of that positive or negative we should just say that's what I was a reality good cook oh yeah no I'm going alright so your turn this is hard on the spot well I guess sometimes when were traveling in general i am a very healthy eater and i'm pretty picky sometimes but i also like to get the local experience but like my kind of local experience meaning i like farm-to-table types of restaurants that use local ingredients and like really good food things like that and i like to check out those spots and chris likes to check out those farts too but he could also order a pizza from Pizza Hut and be fine with it and for me personally I don't really do that so sometimes that create some troubles oh yeah well you also have to explain what angry is and why it affected I get angry and that means if I don't eat every two hours essentially i turned into a.
Raging monster and I like can't think straight I like get really extra sassy more than normal.
I can't make decisions like it's a real problem so imagine living in a rectangle that moves and you're moving through a new place and you get we can always find a place to park its high stress to begin with and you have a little gremlins the next of you demanding that you find a particular spot that's one out of a hundred and replacing everything that's something traumatic dramatic you just say you turn into a monster well i think but not all the time when I'm angry well that's what I'm saying so one thing and again this might be male to female or just our relationship for me when she referenced the pizza had thing it's not so much I mean I love pizza pizza but I know it's not the best for me I like to have it maybe once a week or so yeah nothing against pizza right but if we are in a situation where it's just really out-of-the-way or unfortunate to try and eat the healthiest food for me I'm just like now whatever i'm gonna eat this in my belly before and i'll be happy and Michael go on where it doesn't always work that way with G yeah i think i've seen her eat pizza one time and that was oddly enough the breakers campervan you repeat it but not fast food pizza right she ate the the only time I've seen you e-file what's a little a Greek guy little caesar yeah the world where no one time I seen her eat little caesars pizza was the very first time we ever took a campervan trip and she loved it will she acted like she loved it but after that never again first time I couldn't be like I'm not gonna eat that cause you'd be like get out of the van so I had to just suck it up but then after that I was like well I guess I'm in here my my signs in here now I i have a little sign up i guess that means that but overall I think some of the lessons I learned like I did jot down a little bit of this just now but one thing I learned personally relationship wise in RB whether it be a friend or or a relative or.
You know someone you're you're with dating wise one of the big things I learned was dropping beat the ego when it comes to situations to yourself in like if you need to apologize for something like just dropping your ego and apologizing for for something that you might have said or something that you did I think that's really big because it defuses the situation because in there like what what happens a lot in the RV is you get yourself in high-pressure situations and it's it's not so much you know when you're in an apartment or you're in an established place when you're trying to get something sorted you're not mobile you're not moving and it doesn't it doesn't have things things don't really affect you that much wear when you're in a spot like an RV you have to worry about okay what do you have enough gas when you go to this gas station with this far out of the way do we need to get propane when you get groceries there's so much more that has to be taken into consideration and it really ramps up the you know the level of anxiety and the level of stress so confusing that situation by apologizing or just recognizing that situation I think it's really huge yeah and i think it's also important to note that like Christmas saying how your are always moving.
Sometimes you're in dire situations when you're going through towns with good grocery stores like whole foods or trader joes or costco you have no idea when you'll see those grocery stores again you're like oh my gosh we have to find a spot to park so we can go to these grocery stores right now because who knows when we'll see them again so it does kind of create a high-stress situations and it's harder overall to achieve that state of balance and grounding and security and so I think you just kind of have to really make sure that you know how to be grounded and find that sense of security or else things are just gonna get worse if that makes absolutely because when when one person in the RB is frustrated it really is a lot harder to to to to get past it because it is such a small space you don't have a bedroom that you can go to you don't have an outside patio unless you are parked somewhere you can go out no.
Is there and release some steam but typically you're in that spot I mean for example if you're driving one person's frustrated her down and it really brings yeah there's nowhere to go and it really brings the whole mood of the RV down.
Yeah so again it's just dropping those situations and understanding them and recognizing them and one more thing about the frustration aspect which might help in a certain situation if you are you noticing that things are starting to get a little heightened in the RB and one thing i do it I kind of look at it as us first the road because it is like your team and when things start happening that's really frustrating i think that's that's a good way to look at it because otherwise it's just gonna be like you're blaming the other person rather than Mike the outside the outside influences i always try and look very objectively to problems and try and get them solved but sometimes I just get frustrated like when we first tried doing this the mic wasn't working and then all sudden truck started showing up to where we're at one person was mowing one person shooting guns is just like is like out of nowhere like nobody was there and then also everybody's there and we're trying to do this like you just gotta look at it in that way and just try and be as calm about it as you can and just realize it's just a problem to get through one of the big things that I had to learn from a lot of my soul traveling and even when i backpacked Australia Europe South America any of that I've always had the ability to do my own thing and even if i was traveling people in those countries or you know caravanning in the in the van before g is I never really had to take anybody else's consideration into what i was doing like if they wanted to go somewhere for one weekend I was like okay fine i'm gonna I don't want to do that I'm gonna go over here for this weekend.
That's always traveled and when she and I started traveling especially in the RV it made it a lot different that's something i had to get used to was taking other people's you know needs into consideration it's not like base needs but like for example Jesus eating habits like that i took me awhile to get used to I never had to deal with any of that before we like that even with anybody i don't i don't think i've ever had anybody that picky with eating said something that I had to take into consideration with the RV stuff but typically i mean we are they even go out anymore.
I mean I could hang for a new town we will but right balance it because I don't necessarily like to go out i like to cook right but it's also fun to go outside really do like twenty-five percent going out 75% don't put 20 absolutely so G and I have an agreement when we go to new places i'm in charge of getting the RV and the spot it needs to be the tow car getting everything all set up and I picked the spot where we camp but G then picks the things we do in town that's agreement we have and that kind of helps with the consideration because for me a lot of spots as long as I'm just there exploring i'm happy i really don't care where I go.
So Jesus kind of in charge of getting that all sorted and then I just get it all set up in that way when she finds restaurant she goes to she tried to tell me about it was like yeah that sounds good i read literally don't care and I have to tell you that all the time like yeah that sounds good i don't care where we go.
Yeah that's pretty much how it works ok that's fairly accurate another thing that uh that you learn is it's just being in the smaller space it's the quirks and tendencies that the other person has yeah what water bike works and tendencies be besides that cleaning ok.
And sometimes you need between you know what I think.
Other words oh gosh you're so forget all you okay.
He's using this place things like at least twice a day like where my keys and I have no idea you just drove the car in the RV.
I don't know where you put them and then he'll like a watch him like find the keys and then we'll set them down and have a grownup eat like this happens constantly and like all of his gear like his wires and his little memory cards and like things that I think look really important like I am a very very organized person and like i waive all things and I like know exactly where I keep things like especially important things and he has these important things like all fine memory cards like in the laundry hamper or like just sitting on the table next to like food or like buy a plant important things I'm like why aren't these put in specific places like it's just kind of like and then he loses things and I'm like oh yeah i saw that under the middle cushion of the couch like a week ago she looks pretty normal for you.
I think it's because i have too much gear i really do want to hear I think your head is just you thinking you're so smart and you're thinking of like same words real to turn advance all the time that like the little things just don't stick in your head that makes sense ya brain is doing other things you don't think of those times things but a microwave heats up the quirks man I should have thought about this and wrote it down.
That was just one I'd have to say it's not a quirks that could just be a girl thing is all the different oils and lotions and mass like you you lather up all the time.
Yeah because my didn't get too high but it's just not it's just non-stop like and there's like the essential oils like like but I i will say one of the quirks that i picked up on it is it's not quirks it's I guess it's just different different happy.
Different habits is the the meditation that that's the one you pick up on that I i agree bit like whenever I think about essential oils the smell smells this strongest since tied to memory just reminds me of like doing meditation with essential oils but no I had to say all of the all the oils all because the thing is it's not it's not like lotion like you also do the the oils you put on your face like Oh it'sit's age-defying yeah in cares really important what other quirks i don't know just I guess that the thing is like your quirks i see his quirks is it's all like self-improvement it's like working out like waking up in the morning the RV shaking from you doing kickboxing yeah yeah like it's it's just things like that it's just like nope i gotta do yoga right now like why you don't understand i have to work out today after yoga right now that's that that's a quirk yeah yeah well okay that it's just me personally because in my life fitness and just moving your body and being in good health and good shape has always been like really important to me and if I don't do some sort of movement I'm not doing it has to be really intense but even just like stretching or like using my body like I'm not the type of person that can sit still like all day long as you can't I mean I definitely force myself to have Rusty's but I'm not very good at those and to feel I i know that those are important sometimes but for me to feel like I'm inflow and I'm balance i have to have some sort of movement or workout or stretching or something mostly every single day and that is how i feel about it's better for me to be like okay I gotta run now or I need to like do this.
Squat workout because it just makes me feel good i would say another another quirk is and again this no no it is it's it's it's a interesting quirk because it's the direct opposite of what I do and it's stress like the like your core.
Work to to stress over a situation where mine.
Like I literally feel like we're polar opposites when it comes to those situations and that's that's what makes it hard on the road sometimes I don't have to say like we don't really argue that much but whenever we do i'd say about seventy-five eighty percent of the time it's stress-related me if it's not more sometime like latina in someone's gotta keep it together percent difference of la-dee-da and not stress like I I just think it's like like an in the RV whether it's it's the male or female or whatever relationship you have any RV whenever whenever one person is more stress than the other that I think that's where a lot of the conflicts that come from because I I process stress a lot differently than you do your that I feel like the way you process stress is outwardly where I process stress internally and then I like any type of bad situation when I lost my wallet I wasn't like upset i was yelling i was i was it internalizing okay so step one is to make sure no cards being used step to check every form of communication is always trying to reach me step three we need a backup it cash source like it's literally like that's why I took it i didn't get upset like this is the situation this is how this I'm gonna deal with it where I feel like in the RV that it's helpful at times but there's another side to it where sometimes you need to be more more apt to react to certain things but i just find it very very beneficial to be very calm what else any other quirks that I have I will say one more that with the one quirk or any quirks in general like and then again this could be a male thing but for me when I internalize things like I i go to like just in a place where I don't want to talk about it i just want to get it figured out and again I think that's where where our personality differences come into play because you want to talk about things where I'm.
Like nope nope I'm gonna go over here and walk with go back and think about what's what but I'm gonna do about this situation.
Yeah that's the difference but I feel like in any relationship that occurs whether you live in an RV or not and you kind of just have to learn to deal or like work with it right but it goes back to the small space and there's like we we we have a little slider for our bedroom little slider door for our bedroom and and the kitchen living room bathroom here you could say and it's it's not that big so yeah they're there is definitely a difference yeah is it hard sharing a bathroom with a guy.
No no not at all really I feel like I bathroom so small that we have to keep it organized anyways so I just put your things really belong and then it's fine.
What two things in your teeth brushing you do to it.
I put them back sometimes they do but the uterine weird places don't know what fly i'll find the floss oh this is the court we share fasting I don't know why we should really just have her own label losses why mine what what would that do oh he like I'll go to floss my teeth and I'm like where's the flask and it's like on the kitchen table or like in the cabinet like something weird like that because again it's one of those things where he like doesn't think what he's doing stuff and we'll just like leave it somewhere and then like have no conscious remembrance of putting it there so that happens but I mean other than that I think sharing about that was fine i mean it's long.
Honestly as long as I keep things in order then it's fine you know what I mean like if I didn't clean up after as be a pigsty.
They're like okay so you have you have floss you have floss and guacamole you make it sound like I just grand page through the RV throwing stuff everywhere at that I'm just like pretty anal some about those types of things but I mean other than that it's quite doable it's just learning basically in any relationship like we said you have to learn to deal with these flaws regardless but because we are in such a small space.
It's just a little more extreme of the level and learning to deal is just a little more urgent anything else you want to add before we're done with this very first podcast.
No I think that pretty much covers that if you guys have any more questions like we said wants to go into more detail detail about certain stuff will definitely be announcing that email Rican some questions because we want to make this kind of more like an spot where you can ask us direct questions rather than just as tell you about a day or what adventures were doing we really want to make it more of like a you learn more about us when we give you advice sir hear what you guys have to say except except and we're thinking about doing it in the RV but then it was nice out and then halfway through this podcast there's like gusting winds yeah so we're still getting this sorted out because if we could do the podcast the RV but the same thing over and over or we could do it in the new locations that were at that each week I'm sure we'll do live podcast soon like once we get something figured out the website like you can ask live questions there and do live podcast.
Okay thanks for listening guys see you next time are you gonna have a podcast i am not going to have a podcast right now goodbye I'm cool this is this is g signing out.
G out.
Will work.
