##########################################
Toward.
It.
I'm the Wesley.
.
Rose Amador lebow and yes is nato Voice.
GB welcome to the show I am wearing.
Sakhi esta original.
Can you see it dialect great and with us today is when does psyche after work.
Yes welcome to the show thank you it was such a pleasure meeting you the other day you're here from Southern California Los Angeles area.
Yes I am and he's a clothing designer.
And you have the most beautiful clothes I just.
Fell in love with your live close thank you give me a little bit about your background where you from.
I am hoping in american in the end my.
Father is from second Mesa I he is a name well-known name jeweler on his name is Mike aka body.
And my mother side is Fran one copy to the City area so on that's where my family originates from.
And I never actually lived on the reservation as a child I think when I was born we had come.
To Phoenix on and that's rather that's right girl don't think there's an excellent now have you always.
Use the native influence for your line of clothing yes I near it originated from my father.
On after seeing him doing his jury has our.
That he has done over there many many years I.
Inspired me I had always done different.
Types are I guess you could say growing up.
Ceramics beating you know I painting drawing things of that nature.
So growing up on I'm every time I grandmother.
You know when we will have a really young I was really really am and my grandma they raise me and she was a pattern maker in seamstress and that's where my build these came from and so I'm never telling Harry Norman Goodell a.m. gonna be a designer them otherwise you know dreaming up quite at that at that age.
But on she you know at it more stemmed from.
My father and seeing a lot of his art.
Seeing a lot have the color that he is in the techniques that he uses any.
In his artistry and on that's how that started and it brought.
My family mime actually my father and my brothers full-circle.
And we were kinda distant at one point.
And it kinda by this together yeah.
Sahitya said it happened a happy ending to it.
And you've designed all kinds a close you said you started with making baby steps with you yeah I was.
Yeah I mean I was really on really really green and I grew up in Phoenix and I had moved into.
Scott certain Scottsville area and I aint started after I just cya an ad that had come out for s1 my line.
And they needed help like an assistant tightening said they would actually.
Train so I on.
Para que la pie fight you know that I i did like clothing I did like the aspect there by designing an.
Doing all that so I applied for and I got the job.
And.
I said I think so I'm yes now you tell me when you went to school.
To quote in school yes you had to design something with t-shirts or how was acting top sir.
I at this time there were given a project.
On what it was is they wanted a simple purchase.
Man while the men's t-shirt come into packet you like three in a package.
And on they wanted us to buy two packages.
They said we could do anything like to look at diane had it at do it and we won but we had to create three at Shell pieces hmm you know I starting a clothing line.
And we can do whatever you want to do with it and bakery is creative as you want to do it that we had to sketch it we had to on you know course make the pattern and so with that also and create the whole garment so they actually gave us two weeks to work on it and I'm so what I do they actually died.
I cud I dyed the fabric black and I made a long sleep it long-sleeve men's.
Haiti I I did an actual small short out a bit.
And like a zip-front short because the email have so much fabric so.
In trying to be as creative in trying to be like a top and a bottom.
And I also did a on.
Like a tank top made and it was a different aim to format man so that was one of the problems that we are getting and actually in a really nice and that was a project once you're in a record to get into the school.
Know that was actually when I was already and I mean as having about halfway.
In on the now that accordion to the semester when you go into fashion day.
Really push you and I mean it's bomb bomb bomb you know they give you.
Okay you do that should I D this many John she that to be able to create this story boy you got to be able to pull these fabrics to me it's really yeah it's one right after another and they push it that's how the fabric and.
I mean that I'll the design is industrious and you.
Live near Hollywood obviously if you live in Los Angeles so originally I.
Did live in when I first move there other than the Hollywood are you getting yeah and on I had made several times after that just because.
It was too much I mean at the at when I first and then have a car so I was on the bus like the first year I think it was an just you know you're going up into the Hollywood Hills and here like was literally walking uphill and.
On you know I it it was just got to be a little bit much so I move further out just a you know i i think thats my balance appease peace of mind because.
Los Angeles can be a little crazy as a yeah.
And bat now eyelid and LA for about 15 years and I just miss any guys have been about three years now.
How can I love sandia day out here fighting here.
Very clean very nice it's beautiful yeah I love the weather.
Yeah so now you work that movie stars.
Actors and the whole industries happy about that.
When I first got started I actually started with Smokey Robinson.
Have our people and I'm actually me and his daughter Tamela on Robinson were friends wean a she had an idea a clothing children's clothing line and a lot it was inspired from her daughter and.
On how the name can about the logo.
Porn star where is a smoking is to say.
Our children's to that thing was I al children are born stars and so that's kinda like how we took.
His tagline created by NSTAR and that was in 2000 nationsbank chosen.
No I'm she actually gave me input into regards to she did a research in regards to what type of clothing she wanted and age range so from that point we put together sketches fabrications and things of that and to build the line from them and it actually kinda really get great response.
I think a lot to do with because at the name and you know where it came from and things of that nature and.
On immediately we are in fact siegel's you know we had like the big stores and with that right up dinner in charge children's you know.
On which is there there really big fashion magazine.
And it was great has really great that's really great experience.
To work with them and very very spiritual man and.
Such a kind heart no yes I T and have you worked with other famous people that we might know yeah from that why an IA went to work with Snoop Dogg.
And on with him I actually met his.
On manage well as account like a business partner.
Not really matter with more like a business partner and on I worked with this starting up working with him.
And on the inspiration came from Snoop Dogg and.
On the light was called motivate so.
In tackling because the dye a senior at the time i such at on marijuana smoker.
I the tag you know the name is MOT a.
How to have eight so that our okay out.
Yeah so that's what it was Harry yeah a plant words and we created it was more of an urban streetwear line.
So you know we serve the lineup up ads you know things of that kinda sportswear the baggy shorts you know it was back in those.
That time on things like 2000 2001 to 2002.
So I'm there well as let you actually got a really good response.
Really really good response again it was really nice very very nice.
Yeah in when you do lines like that two days.
They summon Eric exclusive shops yeah does.
For them specifically we were getting them ready for trade shows which is called the magic trade show in Vegas answer comes through twice a year and they set up both there and they sell to the public wholesale you know and people come and.
Order it that nature's yeah so what when they have their fashion shows.
Do isn't as crazy as I don't I see it on TV of course is is a crazy behind the scenes as you normally see on TV he can be and most the time it depends on how big it is if it's pretty big in you that.
You know people coming back to back in the lines that are coming out yeah I can be very very hectic.
You know when you've done that yet work with a model yeah and it can be because you better be on point you have to be organized.
You have to have everything ready everything has to be you know pass everything has to be right lane you now makeup has to be done here has to be done so it's more last you just have to be on point.
You know and it just has a Lagrange my mind and.
The line that's behind you I just admiring and they tell me stop looking at clothes a hacer to close the door behind you there.
I am NOT I okayed.
The crowing that behind me as a new clothing line its it's actually on not on my website as a BF but I'm what I'm getting it ready for the Santa Fe.
Fashion Week okay.
And it's coming in October 2013 26.
At the Buffalo Thunder resort in Santa Fe New Mexico and I'm creating a.
A new up clothing line and a happy when tax logo.
And on the right now when I have been.
With hammy is on I have T-shirts when is the black.
Minus the rest and their my version.
Have should while in Indian culture you have a ribbon shirt switcher for ceremonial purposes right nature pow-wows and I when I deal with that.
I mean don't get me wrong I I love.
You know traditional and things of that nature but I just don't like to look at it.
Some of them have you know the ribbons hanging off and it's hard to watch shows here like feedback from people coming and saying officially the man that where and when they wash and the other you know it's it's all tengo that you know they have to press their.
And see that a lot of work to do with a nuclear Iran even take exactly the same nope so what I did as I went ahead and made sure that everything with.
Sundown you now and I just gave it a new look and I.
I kinda urbanized it you know by two more contemporary stylish other and you know and brought it today.
Hand so that's what I did with with the rest colored and the black colored.
I really really like them both the men's and the women's clothes they're just so unique I also did you know.
Colorblocking what it would what is really in right now use the print versus the actual you know color I'm a solid color and then kinda get it attach at the Red been and and the car and other contrast color and looks really great it does and I even liked a little touch up the back where you have ribbon in the butt know about the detail on the matter yes yes it's on the detail yes and your women flying the women's I have on right now what you're seeing is the on turquoise colored and the rest colored.
On pancho and it's a v-neck I am and its about.
Their lil bit oversized because you know.
Its on that bad like you know you wanna feel comfortable than the way.
That the fabric it's a very nice it supports a poly.
On has a poly/cotton mixture in here with a little bit of Lycra so it's a very fine there's also rayon.
Make sure the little bit like a like ran there as well so the print on it is more a I took it from an actual grad present you know and I've heard people say that it's called like a native.
A in an hour house it's like a spider woman.
Type print I'm not exactly sure what it was.
And that wasn't where I was actually referencing it to when I designed it when I actually designed the president actually started printing it just the way it came out so on you know I like the lot at the symbolism.
That you know the clothing carries on and it's like the secret symbolism set I really strived to and the color and how it.
Works with the actual pattern versus the actual fabric and yeah very striking and as I said I have an original on the materials very comfortable yes you know I with the I'd normally wouldn't wear long sleeves in the summer time because it's so hot.
But its very core material yes so it could be worn in any season.
Right which you wearing is actually it's actually create it's a three-quarter bell sleeve and that's flat at the bottom so yeah so that's that's I don't want me at first it was a long sleeve and then I editing right at the corner and then brought this to your we can actually see it.
PC good.
Way hahaa how many.
A and ashy with the print what I did as I actual.
Lotto women like that concorde likes so what I did as I actually color blocked it on the sides.
So when you're looking at a guess you that streamline that makes a little I like that of course I like I could of just blend into the background at all think it's the party the chair this is me down here.
Yeah right there you go quite like that but that.
Because I you know some of us are floppy evidence lol about the college.
I really love you know the hot pink the court you know the coral color and the blues and that you know.
And I really love them yeah I strength i like it.
Yeah II real really really taken by airline because you can't find anything like that anything close to that know it's different on.
And it does get very when I first came out with a very very first time that I did that's on the website.
I'm happy when sex icon it got great reviews.
Immediately I I had done a fashion show in Phoenix happens in Scottsdale.
And on whenever newscasters from American Taylor she actually was the emcee there.
And I'm she immediately approached me after that and asked me to do an interview on her station on and within the next couple days.
And the same thing and so I said okay I said yeah I'll be there so likely I was already in Phoenix and I ended up staying and on it worked out really nicely like it up staying up here in Northern California get him on the show exact number I did add thank you.
Because I you know I CEC native designed to prance but usually T-shirts.
Right and only teachers and after seeing your line how beautiful weather that I want your website and saw that it was completely different did you have these out there and it was just.
I was just so impressed with olive year write your designs that you have.
Well originally I've already shot these on.
You know in terms of a a photoshoot but I haven't put them on there because what I'm actually getting ready to do is open at my booty.
And San Diego so when I'm gonna do.
Is it going to be in the yellow blossom boutique on yellow blossom.
Is the meaning English sucky es tu wahan.
On is the menial Bassem its yellow bus.
So it's going to be at the Labasa batik.
And so you must be able to see the you everything there and I'm working on that now.
So it's just that I just is not ready awareness about ego opening.
I am hi rail okay right now I have three different locations and i'm looking at I haven't really pin them down yet because of course it's coming to on square footage in and shared stills that them.
Willing to get me into a working on that right now and I'm so my plan of attack is August September the end on the right now.
So is it going to be in the downtown area.
I'll 1i right yeah to them right now in the Gaslamp.
Yes in Sanya so very terse the right sure a very good place to have it wanna miss just some little bit further.
Out and thus really cool little area I forgot what the name of that whereas.
But it's so culture all and it man that being there because that's the best when I for what.
In the air it was just about feeling it's about the energy that's on the i mean it would be great to really haven't in downtown San Diego.
But it's just you know its relief with me it's energy it's sure that spiritual essence that connection.
Where you envision it to be and where it can grow.
So that's where I really 18 I'm still choosing right now but I am that I'm kinda leaning towards that.
Have you are ever consider going on like the.
With the TV show The Ajibola Project Runway I we've had yeah I am.
Actually I was actually in 2004 I and West supposed to go on season three.
And a signed up and I edition and a gatien come I foot in the door.
But I had already design I at that time it already.
Ass are working for Fernando Vargas the boxer and we were about to go to the trade show again in Vegas and and without 30 down at the line.
It was priced it was ready to go but they still need me to be and most it and it is and as I that okay what I can take a break and go and shoot and then come back but in the his lawyer with him.
Release me to do that so I was gonna do it anyways.
You know ask strong headed as I am I was going to have a well-liked.
You know I want to do this I'm gonna go for it and it was my you know this may but they don't have been where I can actually just do it and so they can have said no you can get sued if you do that you have to be there you're under contract Bala so that's.
I had to I I can do it and so but.
It turned out to be actually pretty good anyways because I ended up working for four years and they kept me up for four years.
At them too but and the end of 2008.
Now is really nearby or and arm and outfit could be fifty thousand dollars.
One outfit I'm a hacer like wow well.
With with that um okay well at that time.
When the bowers when I was looking for a.
Men designer and Beverly Hills and the company was under Scott Hill at the time.
And we use to I'm here all name brands there he had his own their.
We had done a care and we had on kevin kline for Sochi that we had everybody come in there rights to all these and really big people and you know some that colin is miked up to be that high arcade action the it could be pants to pads t-shirts it could be a sport coat it could be s.
You know sparkle and a pan they could be shoes that kinda he may have to that price.
So did with the Stars come into the stores or did you go to them know they would come into the stores.
In the beginning I am when I first started there.
On majority that might come into the store because they were so we were right there by the ID and on the we were actually literally across the street from the ID and that's where are the stars come in there with me when you feel like on tens years and later in the day always be shooting them at the Ivy you know coming in and out yet you know lunchtime or whatever and because the I ve had like on an outside.
Typeof case yeah where you could the.
Outside and inside and so they would always come from Aaron come into the store.
And guy we had everybody I mean literally everybody can think at you know tv serie sitcoms you know musicians.
Actors everybody came as a place to be yeah it was man but its very core yeah it's like a gallery.
I really very call gallery yeah so where they were size like double zeros instead.
I yeah and yes I oh yeah I mean Yes and No.
On it really depends I mean we did a lot of menswear and we did a ballade.
Heated moments where they needed one haha K so.
I we said to get into women's wear love it more later on you know like.
Couple years down but I we had a lot of men like him and can't do that.
And their wives coming a lot otherwise came in buying for them.
And I the models coming by for the hazard and the boyfriend things like that say a but I i'm from while it seems like a lot of the men on television or small to ice were maybe like a lot of the reporters and so forth and for the actors that day yeah they are they I mean if they have a lot smaller day I like have got there probably I would say like 59 final on my bike 57.
You know an idiot the camera you know it makes you look smaller by Anne M you know I mean can lead engine kama when you're you watching television you know some of them are.
Very small short the only thing I've ever been to it is the ALMA Awards have you got any other no I have not I've actually had a chance to go do that I just never actually.
Perhaps year I've been to serve others that the National Council for us to put on.
And that's why I got to see a lot of the actors are temporally tight yeah here now today Mario it out they're really tiny they are tiny yeah I mean even like Thomson the actors that I know that we're gonna Twilight series.
A lot more like God like 57 funny 59 yeah like Benjamin brat style.
Yeah I saw your he's probably waiting 5 11.
Probably yeah minor yeah I stopping wet so excited to have you on here and.
Are we sure a lot of success I know you have it with your bro cheek.
Yes definitely wanna go down and visit said.
Go yeah it should be you know majority of the stuff I have seventy percent over everything ready.
On it's just a matter of finalizing.
You know the space the dates and just getting it up on pulling out together.
Yeah and what kinda quoting we have good.
Like this I will have my clothing line their course on I wish that could be the only thing in there but it will not you know I'm gonna be holding other brands in there as well I'm going to do the pottery Tom I'm gonna jury of course because you have to the assessor is probably.
Purses on you know I'm still working on building.
The assess reported it so I want around it saying you cannot I missed that way you can go and then you you don't only by purchase clothing.
You can buy bracelet with that I sprays a nice necklace with that you know something and S&P handbag or whatever.
Yeah then work with the me a over I mean like with jewelry be made yeah I think I'm gonna started off that way and on but I want to really open it up to everybody and wanted to have a broader range so I may be able to bring my question where into it is where.
As well you know and Kyle bring it up to that cowboys and Indians typing.
You nothing a but yeah I have seen in some other catalogues really.
They have both the I'm native and then the.
Kind of the Western yes yeah I'm the minute as well.
You know with the haves and the have been right there a so forth because a lot of things that we wear the long skirt you would wear the boots with yeah I'm actually putting together ass another skirt line that actually I worked on.
A while back and just never brought it out family that being at I'm.
On I guess you could say I'm you know I'm in a bit more sisters onto.
Jeweled amount kinda jewel let me know here and there and I'm stud something that nature and kinda really popped out.
Plus prints things I some work and then you're gonna prolly be able see that on the runway hack science anything okay that's going to be when in October I it's going out over 2013 20 23 to the 26.
On 2013 it's going to be at the Buffalo Thunder resort and I will be on state on the 26th.
And I think that's a Saturday things that necessary from crack on we are going to have one other people there.
It's not confirmed yet but they're in talks with her Patricia Michaels who is on the project on.
That she is one earth fine fine by 3 yeah.
And that shit when bad on she got to the very end.
And on there in talks with her right now to bring her on to show the runway hmm with us.
As we do this so on wheres that it's not confirmed yet but more pressure she's going to be exciting I have to plan my next trip I go to.
Albuquerque pretty often so every couple months see my mom and you might go then okay and you can also I get updates on.
On sentry nationally dot com okay yeah seeking.
Got thank you so much for staying in cap to come on the show.
Problem it was such a pleasure to meet you and we look forward to.
